I get the opportunity to talk with you about web design every monday. Before I can really get into this topic though, I think I should be frank about my tastes. I am a marketing idealist. I love my job because I believe that I am changing people’s lives by connecting them with the solutions they need. From this, you can guess as to my preferences. I like to keep things simple. If it can be with a word, don’t make it a paragraph. If it can be done with a picture, don’t make it flash.

To highlight this minimalist style, I would ask anyone who is interested in improving their e-commerce site to visit a little place called Craig’s List. In my opinion, this could be the most beautiful e-commerce sites anywhere. The user interface is simple, arranged consistently and geographically. User driven and user moderated. Every decision was made to serve the customer from color to layout to load-time. Of course, I could find you prettier sites to look at, but for me, craigslist.org is beautiful. Is your site beautiful, and do you want to work to make it so?
