Jump start your tat sales
To jump start my airbrush tattoo sales at public events I create a spectacle or demonstration.
If someone is with me, I put a tat on them. I keep putting tats on them until I draw attention. I ham it up! I have fun and I let the world know I’m having fun.
If I’m alone, I’ll play mind games with myself to physic myself up. I think of myself as a character in a movie. I pretend I’m a great actor.
I’m an insanely popular airbrush artist working a festival – I pretend. I love interacting with strangers, chatting playfully with them – I pretend. Because I’m so playful and fun loving, people are attracted to me as though I were a delightful child – I pretend. They stand in line to get a tat from me – I pretend.
In reality I’m standing alone at the festival and potential customers are now beginning to trail by my booth. So, I get into my role and start playfully talking to them:
“Wow, you look great this morning. You couldn’t possibly look better, except maybe with an airbrush tattoo. Let’s find out. I’ll put one on you just to see. Since you look great, I’ll give it to you free.
Pick out one you like.
(Once they’re committed, once they’ve started to pick a tat. I continue in my playful role.)
Of course, if you love it when I’m done and want to give me a tip, well, that would light up my morning and make me a star… :-)”
You’ll be amazed at the playful, creative child hidden within you once that child is released. The question is how you release it. And, the answer is you pretend you’re a great actress/actor and get into a role. You revert to a childlike playfulness and openness to people.
You’ll be pleased with your results. You’ll have fun and sell tats. Hey, what’s wrong with that? Push your self to the limit. How insanely childish can you be?
I fine that when I get into role, playfully talking with strangers; I attract customers and soon have them standing in line to get their tat.
Here’s what’s really strange. I have an awesome time doing this.
Who doesn’t like a delightful child? I know I do.
It’s all a mind game.

I always adapt to my surroundings and customers. Last night I did an event at a winery (second time there) and they had distributors from all over the world attending. South Africa, Australia, Japan, China and more countries were represented. I thought to instruct my girls to be on their best behavior and what a mistake that was. We quickly found this group of people to be PARTIERS of the highest order!! They were loud and fun and running around with water pistols shooting each other up all night. At one point I went out to use the restroom and saw people hiding in bushes (yes, bushes) filling up their “pistolas” from water bottles! Finally, Rose had to call a “cease-fire” and threaten to not serve dinner until ALL of the “pistolas” were returned. Man, what a fun group of people.
