Manage your e-mail list with care

Often, in our videos and posts, we take about the value of maintaining an e-mail list of your customers. We at TAT International do the same thing with a program called Group Mail.

Group Mail is a simple program that allows you to add, delete, change, and update information on your entire e-mail list. The entry level program is free and can be loaded directly on to your computer. You can use this program to send out e-mails about your schedules, information on new products or designs, or a monthly newsletter using one of the templates that the program provides.

A few notes about managing an email program. The foremost issue are the laws governing sending emails out to customers. The CAN-SPAM Act is a Federal law that makes requirements on commercial e-mailers as to what permissions and options are required when sending out e-mail. The link I provided is to a simple to read explanation of the law. Any one sending e-mails to customers should have this information bookmarked in their computer.

Second, most individuals do not realize that their Internet Service Provider (ISP), the company they pay to connect to the Internet, limits the number of e-mails you can send out. Our ISP only allows us to send out 200 e-mails every two hours. Other providers are even more restrictive with Gmail only allowing 100 e-mails per day. After all that time you spend collecting the information, you need to know your limitations, otherwise your emails will not reach your customers.

E-mail is an in expensive and quick way to maintain contact with your customers and keep them returning for your services. How you connect to them is important so do your research before send out your next mailing. It can mean the difference of sales versus a worthless e-mail list.
