This week I have put together another video tutorial for the GIMP concerning product pictures. Fortunately (or unfortunately), this week’s video has audio commentary by yours truly. Kadeera had asked me to be more clear about how to cut out a product picture for a website like you see on most e-commerce sites, and also how to watermark or superimpose an image on top of said product picture. I hope that this video, is clear and somewhat easy to follow so that it can help you to improve your product pictures.

One last thing about product pictures for the web. The best advice I can give you is actually not tech related at all… Start with good pictures. Take a stunning picture. That means use a good camera and spend some time experimenting with lighting, it will pay dividends in the final product. I have heard it said that there is no such thing as a photographer, only lighting experts. I have come to believe that is largely true. So experiment… a lot.
