TatStore Blog reaches 50

I am the lucky writer for our blog’s 50th post, so I decided to write, appropriately, on the subject of blogging.

If you ask any Internet marketer, they will give you two truths. 1. Content is king. You can make your site attractive to your customers, add bells and whistles, but what is said on your site is what gets the attention of your prospects. The more information you put up on a site, the more the search engines, and your prospects, will look to you as an authority on your particular subject. 2. The quickest way to add content to your site is a blog.

A major advantage to having a blog is the readiness of free software and free hosting available, plus the ease at which you can add material to the site. We have customers that want to create a web site and my response as of late is to skip creating and paying for a full site. Use free blog software to create your own blog.

There are three rules of blogging that I want to stress.

1. Write consistently. This does not mean you have to post something everyday or even once a week. The point is to do it on a regular schedule so that your prospects know that they can go back to your site at a particular time and see something new.

2. When titling your blogs, a catchy phrase may catch the eye, but not the attention of search engines. Most blogging software allows you to title your blog one thing, but provide a different name for your link. You need to make sure that the link for your blog does not have what is known as stops words - a, the, it, etc. These simple adjectives can cause the search engines to stop reading the line and thus miss the all important word you want noticed. The title of this blog is listed above, but the link I provided is “50 tatstore blogs”, eliminating the word “reaches”, which is a stop word.

3. In later blogs, link back to earlier blogs to let your prospects explore your earlier post and give the search engines a chance to pick up posts they may have missed. Check out Benn’s blog from yesterday and see how he uses this technique to refer to a previous blog on the same subject. (First, notice how easy it is to use this technique, as I just did it. Second notice that the title and the link are different, as I mentioned in step two).

Blogging is the newest, best way to keep your customers updated on what is going with you as well as getting them back to the site to once more, place your offer in front of them and turn them from a prospect to a customer.
