Solving the Electrical Problem

How do you deal with the problem of no electricity or having to pay extra for electricity?

There is a simple solution to this problem. We here at TAT International recommend the purchase of a deep cycle or marine battery, a power inverter (750 – 1,000 watt) and a battery charger. These items can be purchased at any auto supply store. Or check the Yellow Pages under battery for a store in your area. We purchased all of the above equipment for around $130 - $150. This expense can be recovered after doing a couple of shows and not having to pay extra for electricity.

The battery charger has a gauge on the front to tell when the battery is fully charged. When you first purchase the battery, our staff recommends charging the battery until it is fully charge before using it.

If you are like me you need to learn the basics. The black clamp of the charger is the negative and needs to be connected to the negative (-) terminal of the battery and the red clamp is the positive and needs to be connected to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.

The first time we used this battery at a show we ran two compressors, 5 lights and one fan for about 16 hours, we also charged our cell phone. At the end of the day we took the battery back to the hotel room and charged it over night and were good to go the next day. I am told that the charge on the marine battery will last up to 48 hours. Some of the benefits of this system are: No odor, no noise and the battery fits nicely under the table, out of sight, unlike a generator or a tank of compressed air. Customers we have recommended this set up to have called to report how happy they were with the efficiency and ease of this set up.

One final note, the battery itself weighs about 44 pounds. The one we have has a strap on the top to make it easier to carry; however, you may want to invest in a collapsible dolly if you do not already have one. This makes transportation so much easier. You can pick one up at an office supply store.

Now you are good to go anywhere the crowds are: the beach, street corner, campground… There is no stopping you now!

Peace
