Fall Festival Time
I’m sure you already know that Halloween is second only to Christmas for retail merchandise sales. When we lived in the city and had trick-or-treaters, I would always buy my candy well in advance of the big night, eat it all up and have to buy candy again, and again, and again… I know I helped boost Halloween related sales.
If your area of the country is anything like ours, October is not only the month for celebrating Halloween but also the harvest season. Area farms have celebrations of the harvest from mid September through the end of October. They offer apple picking, pumpkin picking, hay rides, pony rides, cider and doughnuts, scare crow making, corn mazes and tats. Yes tats! Wherever there is a crowd, there is a good location to apply tats.
A few years ago we did a Halloween show in Chicago to sell systems. Many of the attendees were people who ran haunted houses. For the most part these people were campground owners, water park operators or business people who were industriously creating other activities during the year to supplement their seasonal business. We did sell systems at this show but a lot of these people just wanted somebody to come in for several weekends during the year as an added attraction to their seasonal event.
Check out your area. It’s worth a few calls to see if you can work out an agreement with some of these industrious people. Who knows what will develop from a good relationship with another business person.
I have put together a special Halloween stencil package just for Halloween. This stencil package would be a nice addition to your stencil library, especially if you are doing any Halloween or harvest events.
Check out my blog all this month. I will be telling you horror stories as told to me by the staff at TAT International.
Boo!
