Horror Stories #2

The following horror story was told to me by Nate. Nate repairs all the equipment at TAT International and works with customers who are having problems with their equipment. He wanted me to tell this story because the following is a very common mistake made by so many.

One Monday morning Leroy Brown called and was very upset. He had a big show booked the past weekend and ended up having to leave the show because his airbrush gun was not working properly. He had customers waiting in line for their tats but just could not get ink to come out of the gun. No matter how hard he tried to spray ink, all he got to come out of his airbrush gun was air.

“That stupid airbrush gun must be defective.” Leroy yelled at Nate.

The solution to Leroy’s problem was so simple Nate almost wished for Leroy’s sake that the gun was defective. Nate started to explain to Leroy what he needed to do to get the airbrush gun working.

“Remove the back of the airbrush gun, loosen the nut around the needle, push the needle forward, and retighten the nut and screw the back of the airbrush gun on.” Nate instructed Leroy.

This simple solution solved the problem.

Whenever you are getting only air to come out of the airbrush gun and no ink or alcohol, chances are the problem can be corrected by pushing the needle of the airbrush gun forward. Another issue with the position of the needle is when you get a steady stream of ink shooting out the tip of the gun and you are not pressing down on the button of the airbrush gun. The solution is the same.

I would like to suggest that you always keep your troubleshooting guide with you. If Leroy had his guide with him, his weekend would have been saved. If you no longer have your troubleshooting guide, you can download it from our website. Click on “Troubleshooting” on the left side of our home page. It is also a good idea to have a back up airbrush gun on hand. The cost of an additional airbrush gun is minimal and having an additional one could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in lost revenue.

In other news, check out this link from Extra TV. Mariah Carey wore a Swarovski crystal design to a recent red carpet, and our crystals were featured.

  • This happened to one of my co-workers this weekend and while she was able to get ahold of me, I am not always available. This is good reason to carry the troubleshooting guidelines and all of them have the other workers cell numbers. Always better safe than sorry.

  • Amen Franco!
