Incentivize
Sadly, I have no pictures or links to share with you this week from your websites. Maybe I’ll come up with something else to cover where I can review your internet offerings.
But this week I thought I’d do I bit of a “duh” piece. On thing that is good to be reminded of is that marketing in general is very much an elaborate incentive modulation science. All marketing efforts are designed to incentivize certain actions, or provide, renew, or exaggerate disincentives. Now no where is this more true than the web. The internet has so much information collected within in that surfers (techy or novice alike) have evolved highly advanced mechanisms for separating the gold from the pyrite. So it would be very foolish to assume that a proper incentive to visit your website is their curiosity when you handed them a business card, or much less their curiosity if you haven’t even given them that. The point is, don’t count on an individuals curiosity to lead them to your site. Give them an incentive, and make it both appealing and appropriate. Maybe consider luring prospective visitors with half off coupons or 40% off the total order when they bring a friend coupon. Another option (predicated on the size of your business) would be to offer some sort of raffle or contest where customers can submit a review and win a free 1 hr. birthday party. Anything to get bridge the gap between impressions and visitors.
